Why Use SiteNextDoor?
Websites now have neighbors. The SiteNextDoor search engine maintains a database of websites that are logically and virtually 'next' to each other and at different proximities. Our custom algorithm calculates the proximities for the websites we crawl. This proximity information is merged with websites that have been registered by website owners and leased at a particular location next to another site.
For search users
- Find sites that are similar to a given site.
- You are shopping online and would like to find sites that are competitors to sites you already know about so you can check out other deals.
- Find sites you never knew existed.
- Feel free to just browse from one site to the next via each site's next door neighbors. You never know what sites you might discover.
For website owners
Benefits of leasing a location in the search results:- You can place your site next to a competitor so that users will find your site once they find your competitor's site.
- You can place your site next to a site that is dissimilar to yours to attract new customers who happen to 'just be passing by' a site they were searching for, which we refer to as the 'target site'.
- Feel free to choose which sites your site(s) are next to, so you can find the best spot that attracts the most customers, and this does not necessarily mean you have to be around sites that are similar to yours.
More Effective Searching Using Url Search
Search for sites that are 'next door' to a given site.
Enter a URL for a web page and our search engine will examine it and return all sites that are 'next door', or neighbors, to that page. Some examples:
example.com
http://example.com/somepage
example.com/something/somepage.html
example (Note that if you enter a url without any '.' characters, we will assume you mean the url ends in '.com',
so for convenience, you can just enter 'example', and we will treat it as 'example.com').
Note that neighborhood, or 'next door', relationships are non-commutative. What this means is a site A that is 'next door' to another site B does not mean site B is next door to site A. Practically, what this means is you should explore all neighbors of a site by clicking on 'Find Neighbors' next to each url in the search results.
You can also combine a url search with keywords by entering them in the text box. The keywords are used to give more emphasis to url results that contains those and related keywords.
- Url = "pgatour.com", Text = "golf". Using just "pgatour.com" by itself may return other non-golf related results. Adding the "golf" keyword narrows down the search.
- Url = "newyorkdailynews.com", Text = "portland". Using just "newyorkdailynews.com" returns sites that are neighbors of the news site. By adding "portland", news sites from Portland, Oregon are returned. This demonstrates how you can use the url of one site to establish your general interest, and then use keywords to refine the search. Try it!
More Effective Searching Using Text Search
Enter text up to 100 characters about what you are searching for, and our search engine will return all sites that are 'next door', or neighbors, to the text you provided.
You can enter keywords into the text box by itself, or you can combine this search option with the URL search option above. If the url search option is combined with the text search option, the keywords entered in the text box are used to give more emphasis to url results that contain the given and related keywords.
When you enter keywords by itself into the text box whilst leaving the url box empty, a search is made for the closest sites containing those keywords and their related forms.
Note that you may not get the best results if you just use keywords by itself - there are other better search engines for that kind of thing. You will get the best results from the SiteNextDoor search engine when you provide a url and refine it with keywords.
Try it!
